The Uncut Gems Podcast - Episode 196 (Vampires and Ghosts of Mars)

The Uncut Gems Podcast

The Uncut Gems Podcast is a show where a bunch of like-minded individuals gather around a virtual table to discuss films that for one reason or another have become forgotten. Tongues pressed firmly in cheek, the team don their film historian top hats and rant from sedentary positions to hopefully conclude whether the film in question deserves to be covered by sands of time or if it is a classic in dire need of attention.

In this episode of the show we are closing the main strand of our Carpentober operation with a conversation about Vampires and Ghosts of Mars. Over the course of our chat you will hear us talk about how both of these movies still carry out the main mission of a western, how Vampires refreshes the stale lore surrounding the canonical vampire and how Ghosts of Mars maybe has always been taken at face value, as opposed to being treated as a trashy exploitation flick with a tongue pressed into its cheek. We also talk Carpenter losing steam in the 90s, James Woods trying too hard, Sheryl Lee's screaming prowess, Ice Cube's battle face and Big Daddy Mars sounding like a cross between the Cookie Monster and Timmy from South Park.
