Death by Adaptation Podcast - Episode 13: The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) & The Passion of the Christ (2004)

Death by Adaptation Podcast

Welcome to Death By Adaptation, a bi-weekly book club where we choose one classic book and compare and contrast it against its cinematic adaptations.

In this episode, we celebrate Easter by doing a Christ-related double-feature: Nikos KazantzakisThe Last Temptation of Christ, focusing on Martin Scorsese’s 1988 adaptation, and Mel Gibson‘s controversial The Passion of the Christ. We talk about the beauty of a flawed Jesus, the fascinating casting in Scorsese's film, and the dangerous anti-semitic undertones of Gibson's movie.
