The Uncut Gems Podcast - Episode 91 (Nothing But Trouble)
The Uncut Gems Podcast is a show where a bunch of like-minded individuals gather around a virtual table to discuss films that for one reason or another have become forgotten. Tongues pressed firmly in cheek, the team don their film historian top hats and rant from sedentary positions to hopefully conclude whether the film in question deserves to be covered by sands of time or if it is a classic in dire need of attention.
In this episode of the show we are joined by our good buddy Kyle to talk about the infamous Nothing But Trouble, a movie that quite literally broke Dan Aykroyd's career. Over the course of our conversation you will hear us try to decide if it is more a comedy or a horror, how it connects to the pop culture at large, and how it was perhaps ahead of its time in terms of its comedic sensibilities. We also wonder how little oversight there was on set, how Demi Moore must have felt a bit out of her depth in this scenario, how Chevy Chase's allure may be an acquired taste and how John Candy's everyman energy may or may not be the film's saving grace.
