The Uncut Gems Podcast - Episode 50 (Angel Heart)

The Uncut Gems Podcast

The Uncut Gems Podcast is a show where a bunch of like-minded individuals gather around a virtual table to discuss films that for one reason or another have become forgotten. Tongues pressed firmly in cheek, the team don their film historian top hats and rant from sedentary positions to hopefully conclude whether the film in question deserves to be covered by sands of time or if it is a classic in dire need of attention.

In this episode of the show, we are drenching ourselves in the combination of a sticky atmosphere of the Deep South, the gloom of the occult and unsavoury amounts of chicken blood as we talk about Alan Parker's Angel Heart. Over the course of our crazy conversation you will hear us talk about Alan Parker's approach to adapting a novel, Mickey Rourke as the star of the 80s, the dreadfully subliminal horror of this movie, a possibility that a good chunk of the story doesn't even take place in reality, Robert De Niro's turn as a mysteriously long-haired and long-fingernailed Louis Cyphre and... the many ways one could peel a hard-boiled egg.

Tune in, follow, like and subscribe at your podcatcher of choice and be sure to follow the show on Twitter and Instagram as well! You can also support the show on Ko-fi! Also, be sure to subscribe to CLAPPER’s brand new Patreon!
