The Uncut Gems Podcast - Episode 37: The Godfather Part III
The Uncut Gems Podcast is a show where a bunch of like-minded individuals gather around a virtual table to discuss films that for one reason or another have become forgotten. Tongues pressed firmly in cheek, the team don their film historian top hats and rant from sedentary positions to hopefully conclude whether the film in question deserves to be covered by sands of time or if it is a classic in dire need of attention.
In this episode of the show we are taking a look at Francis Ford Coppola's conclusion to The Godfather trilogy. Over the course of our discussion we examine the historical context of how this movie came about, we wonder what the recently re-edited Coda adds to the legacy of the series, we comment on the criticisms leveled at the film at the time of its release and - most of all - do our absolute best to examine the film on its own terms as a tale of a man who finally must come to terms with the sins of his past. And as you may imagine, we have a great time while talking about this movie!
