The Uncut Gems Podcast - Episode 192 (Brannigan)

The Uncut Gems Podcast

The Uncut Gems Podcast is a show where a bunch of like-minded individuals gather around a virtual table to discuss films that for one reason or another have become forgotten. Tongues pressed firmly in cheek, the team don their film historian top hats and rant from sedentary positions to hopefully conclude whether the film in question deserves to be covered by sands of time or if it is a classic in dire need of attention.

In this episode of the show we conclude our September journey through John Wayne's post-Western career by talking about Brannigan. Over the course of our chat you will hear us talk about how after resisting for so long, The Duke decided to lean into the Dirty Harry craze, how getting him out of the country might have given him an opportunity to act outside of his comfort zone and how this movie is still secretly a western anyway. We also talk about John Wayne trying to fit into a small European car, American ideas about following the British rule of law and whether The Duke perhaps walks a little bit like a T-Rex.
