The Uncut Gems Podcast - Episode 120 (Bottle Rocket)
The Uncut Gems Podcast is a show where a bunch of like-minded individuals gather around a virtual table to discuss films that for one reason or another have become forgotten. Tongues pressed firmly in cheek, the team don their film historian top hats and rant from sedentary positions to hopefully conclude whether the film in question deserves to be covered by sands of time or if it is a classic in dire need of attention.
In this episode of the show, we are beginning our May mini-journey through 90s heist movies with Wes Anderson's debut Bottle Rocket. Over the course of our conversation you will hear us talk about Wes Anderson's artistic collaboration with Owen Wilson, how his style developed and where it began, whether the movie is a heist movie at all, whether it is autobiographical in nature and - most importantly - you will hear us theorize about what the title of the movie even means in the first place.
