The Uncut Gems Podcast - Episode 10: Congo
The Uncut Gems Podcast is a show where a bunch of like-minded individuals gather around a virtual table to discuss films that for one reason or another have become forgotten. Tongues pressed firmly in cheek, the team don their film historian top hats and rant from sedentary positions to hopefully conclude whether the film in question deserves to be covered by sands of time or if it is a classic in dire need of attention.
In this episode of the show we having an absolute ball discussing Frank Marshall's 1995 adventure romp, Congo. Over the course of the discussion, which got heated and eventually went completely off the rails, we tried to get to the bottom of whether this film is great, abysmal or so-bad-it's-awesome. We also pontificated over just how much high calibre talent was found behind the scenes, shared a few laughs at the expense of the film's exquisitely campy writing and (at least some of us) wondered if Amy was a real gorilla after all. So, as you may imagine, the conversation may have turned out just as bizarre and unhinged as the film itself!
