The Uncut Gems Podcast - Episode 04: Black Sunday

The Uncut Gems Podcast
The Uncut Gems Podcast

The Uncut Gems Podcast is a brand new show where a bunch of like-minded individuals gather around a virtual table to discuss films that for one reason or another have become forgotten. Tongues pressed firmly in cheek, the team don their film historian top hats and rant from sedentary positions to hopefully conclude whether the film in question deserves to be covered by sands of time or if it is a classic in dire need of attention.

In this episode we stay in the 1970s and take a very close look at John Frankenheimer's forgotten blockbuster, Black Sunday. We dig deep into Frankenheimer's place as an underrated-yet-iconic filmmaker of the decade, wax poetic about the film's unique aesthetic, attempt to identify just how much of it has crept into the subconsciousness of popular culture and even try to tease out how John Williams's epic score connects to his other works!

Tune in, follow, like and subscribe at your podcatcher of choice and be sure to follow the show on Twitter as well! You can also support the show on Ko-fi!
