CELL ADORE FILM FESTIVAL - Let Her Rip

CELL ADORE FILM FESTIVAL

Clocking in at just over a minute, the short follows a nameless woman, made of clay, in her attempt to hold in passing gas. As she does, the people around her investigate. The viewers are shown visualizations of the intestines and the bumbling occurring inside the woman. Eventually, the attempts to hold in the gas turns her into a giant balloon that shoots off, with the smartest use of close up and wide angles to be found in any film.

The short is presented in stop motion fashion. Much of it is claymation, with the clay used to detail the bubbling up occurring inside the woman and a fun scene involving the people around her growing and leaning in towards her. The animation is assisted by a stellar sound design that drives home the anxiety he woman feels in the beginning before finding the comedy in it all. Let Her Rip is a cheeky and cute animated short. Fully using visual storytelling and sound design, Micky Wonzy’s short achieves much in a little amount of time.

I've been a cinephile since I popped out my mom. I was always that kid who knew about the newest movies and spent much of their time watching them. I knew I wanted to be apart of the industry when I saw grindhouse at age 12 and I haven't looked back since.
